Birthday Bub Bernard

We take birthdays serious in our house, dog birthdays that is. It was Bernard's turn for a birthday and we decided to go a little different this time, we opted for donuts. They were horrible, I mean amazing - the dogs LOVED them, but honestly? They were pretty much paste. I didn't have whole wheat flour so they got all-purpose flour... not the most amazing looking things ever. The pipped them into the donut pan and did the frosting. We opted for half peanut butter and half cream cheese with sprinkles of course. We didn't even get a final picture because the dogs wolfed them down so quick we didn't have a chance.

Dog Donuts

1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup olive oil
1 egg
1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons water
1/4 cup cream cheese
1/4 cup peanut butter

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
In a medium mixing bowl, combine the flour, egg, and olive oil. Mix well.
Add in the ¼ cup water and mix well again. If you think your mixture is too thick, add in a tablespoon more of water at a time until you reach the desired consistency.
Place the batter in a frosting bag and evenly distribute among each of the donut cavities in your pan. Bake for 13 minutes. Let cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then remove to a cooling rack to finish cooling for another 15 minutes.
Place the cream cheese and peanut butter in a small bowl and microwave for 20 seconds then stir well. Add the 2 tablespoons of water and stir until combined.
Frost top of your donuts with cream cheese/peanut butter and sprinkle with sprinkles. Store in a sealed container in the fridge for up to a week.
