Another day, another cucumber salad

Hey look - another day another cucumber salad recipe. This recipe's title is legit - Dad's... Sorry Andy... I'm just not that into cucumber salads... I mean I like cucumber on my regular salad - sometimes, but as a salad with creamy dressing or vinegar? Meh.
This recipe had us salting the onions and cucumbers to draw out some of the natural liquid. I was pretty impressed by how much was drawn out. Once again I used dried dill with this since my little container herb garden dill did not grow as I'd hoped this year. In fact, it was hiding under bigger things and never really had a chance.
We made this on a Saturday and by evening Andy was digging into it crunching away. Pretty sure he's enjoying all these cucumber salads. What a great crop of cucumbers we've had this year and amazing farmers to pick them. Thankful my kids love being in the garden and gathering up all the goodies.

Dad's Creamy Cucumber Salad
2 large cucumbers, peeled and thinly sliced
1 sweet onion, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon sea salt
Dressing:
1 ½ cups mayonnaise, or more to taste
2 tablespoons vinegar
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 teaspoon dried dill weed
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Mix cucumbers, onion, and salt together in a bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and let sit for 15 to 30 minutes.
Turn cucumber mixture into a colander set over a bowl or in a sink. Let drain, stirring occasionally, until most of the liquid and salt has drained, 15 to 30 minutes. Transfer drained cucumber mixture to a large bowl.
Whisk mayonnaise, vinegar, sugar, dill, garlic powder, and pepper for dressing together in a bowl until smooth. Pour over cucumber mixture and stir until coated.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours before serving.
