1970's Orange was a good color

I have a boy who loves apple pie. Just loves it! So when he and I had a night to ourselves, and asked him what he wanted to do? Bake an apple pie. We'd just gone to the apple orchard the week before so I let him pick which apples (with some guidance) for our pie. Ida Reds were his choice and they were pretty!
My go to recipe for Apple Pie goes back to my orange 1970's Betty Crocker cookbook from my Gram. The very same one my mom used to make her pies. We may have added some cardamom and maybe a little ground cloves but otherwise - standard Apple Pie. We ask used some pie crust cutters because they make it more fun. I almost always use store bought crust because if there's something I don't like making is pie crust. Ugh! It rarely turns out that great, but store bought, wins favor every time. Nicholas declared this pie delicious. He also wants to use my pie cutters more... perhaps we need to bake a few more pies...

Betty Crocker’s Old Fashioned Apple Pie
Pastry for 9-inch Two crust Pie
1/2 cup sugar
3 tbsp flour
¼ tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
Dash of salt
5 tart apples – cut into small pieces

Heat oven to 425 degrees.
Prepare pie plate with premade pie crust.
Stir together dry ingredients and mix with apples. Spoon into prepared crust. Cover with top crust and crump edges. Cut vent holes in top of pie.
Bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until crust is brown.
