Avoiding Moldy Bread

I make my own French Bread - I do... it's amazing, the smell, the taste - nothing beats your own French Bread. But who can eat two giant loaves of the stuff before it gets moldy or stale? Not this family. So what do we do instead? This time I made some garlic bread! I knew I had a make ahead meal in the freezer for a night we had parent teacher conferences and play practice, toss in a bad car battery and all the other things life tosses your way - and having this garlic bread in the freezer to toss in the oven worked out great! One thing I would have done differently? Thaw it. Going straight away from the freezer to the oven - well... didn't work great. I ended up separating the slices midway through and laying them flat on a baking sheet - which worked wonderfully. If you like salt - add some extra or salt them warm from the oven. My kids had seconds! Winning!

Garlic Bread
1 loaf of French Bread
6 tablespoons Butter/Margarine
1 tsp garlic salt
1 tbsp chopped garlic
2 tbsp parmesan cheese
1 tsp basil
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp onion powder

Mix together butter/margarine and spices.
Slice French Bread in slices 3/4 inch thick.
Spread mixture onto slices and stack together. Wrap in foil. This can be frozen or put directly into a 350 degree oven for 30-35 minutes. They also can be laid out onto a sheet pan to bake faster.
