Like Butta....

My canned item this year for our family canning exchange is a family favorite - Apple Butter. Making Apple Butter is so easy, sooo easy. Ready? Peel, core, and slice apples. Add the apples, sugar, and spices to the crockpot - cook until your house smells so amazing you can't even stand it. I used to use a blender to smooth out my apple butter but I'm fancy now and use a stick blender - it's awesome. Stick it in the crockpot and smooth it all out... like butter. Get it? Like butta? Right... moving along... I ended up making two batches since I needed 14 jars and I got 12 from my first batch - oops. It worked out great that I could stick the crockpot on while I was at work, then blend it and give it a water bath when I got home.
Make this one. No really - do it. You don't need to do a full recipe - or may do! Give it as gifts - people will love it. Make some fresh biscuits - either from scratch or from a can that pops - add some butter (or country crock) then top with delicious apple butter. Oh so good. So good.

Apple Butter
What you need!
5 pounds granny smith apples, cored, peeled, sliced
2 ½ cups white sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon allspice

Make it!
Pile cored, peeled, and sliced apples into crockpot. Top with sugar and spices. Stir to coat the apples. Turn crockpot on high for 1 hour. Stir at the one hour mark and turn down to low. Cook overnight, or 9-10 hours.
Using a food processer or blender, process cooked apples until a smooth consistency.
Pour back into crockpot and cook on high for an additional hour.
Pour into sterilized hot bottles and put in water bath for 10 minutes.
Let cool and enjoy.
