2013 Nashville Needlework Market Sneak Peeks: Buttoned up for Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn

For quite a while now I’ve wanted to do a monthly pattern.  Something for each month of the year.  This was my attempt at that.  Rather than each month – I did seasons.
Many things make these patterns work – Just Another Button Company Buttons, Ackfeld Wire Hangers, and Weeks Dye Works Fibers and Wool.  I so enjoyed combining all of these great friends into one project.  We hope you’ll love it wither it’s punch or cross stitch.
These pattern will be available in Punch Needle and Cross Stitch on March 2 at all our distributors and we will have them in person at the Nashville Needlework Market.

2013 Nashville Needlework Market Sneak Peeks: Bronwyn's Baby Block

First I want to say right up front - this is not a child’s toy… with that out of the way… Here’s Bronwyn’s Baby Block.  We wanted to do a baby pattern since – well… we have a baby now.  Seemed like the thing to do.
This simple pattern pops with colors from Weeks Dye Works and buttons from Just Another Button Company.
This pattern will be available in Punch Needle and Cross Stitch on March 2 at all our distributors and we will have them in person at the Nashville Needlework Market.

2013 Nashville Needlework Market Sneak Peeks: Singing to the Choir

You’ve heard of someone preaching to the choir, these birds are singing to the choir.  These birds are perched in a tree just ready to belt it out
This pattern will be available in Punch Needle and Cross Stitch on March 2 at all our distributors and we will have them in person at the Nashville Needlework Market.

2013 Nashville Needlework Market Sneak Peeks: Oh Nuts!

How could we come to a show and not bring a new mint tin design?  That just won’t do!
This year’s Nashville Needlework Market Mint Tin release shows someone near and dear to our hearts – a spunky squirrel.  My parent’s home has loads of Black Walnut trees, so guess what else they had?  Squirrels!
This cute guy is holding an acorn, since for some reason Just Another Button Company didn’t have any black walnuts for him to hold, but an acorn works just as well.
This pattern will be available in Punch Needle and Cross Stitch on March 2 at all our distributors and we will have them in person at the Nashville Needlework Market.

Nashville 2012

I’m sure this will come as a shock to you but we are back from Nashville! No – it didn’t take us a month to get home – it just took me a month to say something about it.
The 2012 Nashville Needlework Market in a word – awesome. What a great time! It was fun to see our designer friends and our shop friends too. After a not so great trip to Texas and the Quilt Market – it felt like home being with our friends in Nashville.
Here are a few pictures of our room. We had 8 full panels of designs, a special panel just for new releases and even a free pattern we were giving away. It’s possible you noticed our bins are setup near the toilet paper dispenser. That’s right – in the bathroom. At first I wasn’t so sure about Andy’s idea of the stock room being in the bathroom – but as usual – he was right. He had his setup on the kitchenette so we could process invoices and payment, pull orders and get it all to the customer all in good time. Worked amazingly well.
Our next show will be Nashville 2013 – at least that’s our plan right now. Mini Myrt/Marv will be making our lives a bit interesting from here on out.

Free Pattern - Seasons In Stitches - Snowman's Best Friend

Come see us this weekend in Room 425 at the Nashville Needlework Market for your copy of our free cross stitch pattern.
Our Seasons In Stitches design is called Snowman's Best Friend.
We have a snowman and his friend! It is stitched on Zweigart 28ct Cashel Cream over 2 threads. We had to include a few Just Another Button Company Buttons - just for some fun.
Sponsored by the TNNA Counted Thread & Embroidery Group.

Fresh Hotel Baked Cookies

Just how do you get fresh baked cookies in a hotel? That was our challenge a few weeks ago at the Nashville Needlework Market. We wanted to provide warm cookies and milk as a bed time snack to the shops who were at the Market.
Well… in the world of my day job at ProviNET Solutions – we have an Otis Spunkmeyer Cookie Oven. Why? That is an excellent question. Why don’t you have a cookie oven where you work? :) Ok… we acquired it from somewhere… Anyway… I borrowed that cookie oven – which is like an easy bake oven on steroids – snuck it into the hotel, brought unbaked dough that I had prepared at home and there we go! Fresh Hotel Baked Cookies! We were told people could smell the cookies from down the hall!
While we didn’t have a stampede for the cookies, we did have some great people join us, sit on the couch and the floor and had a great time chatting. What a blessing it was to have that time with friends.

Vending at the Nashville Needlework Market 2011

How exactly do you turn a hotel room into a viable cross stitch and punch needle shop? A whole lot of effort and a big strong husband!

This my friends is an Embassy Suite. Not your normal hotel room… a step above some might say… it has a parlor. I know – you are all saying “Ohhhhh a parlor!” Basically, where I’m from, it’s called a front room or “Fronch Room” if you are really from Chicago. I’m from the suburbs… so we say both words. Anyway! Separate room in the front (sly there right?). We moved all the furniture out – all but the couch and the desk table. (I say we like it was really both of us.) Ok, try again. Andy moved all but the couch and table into the bedroom. (This post is really going nowhere isn’t it?)

With very little furniture in the room we are free to setup our cheapo CostCo plastic tables – throw on our wrinkle free table clothes and setup! We bring our displays put together and labeled. I don’t even want to think about how much work some people have to go through to setup who are unable to do some of the work ahead of time. We bring our bubble wrapped displays ready to unwrap and setup. Grand total? 10 minutes to actually setup the displays. :)
We brought up the desk from the bed room to setup a small work area to process orders – it worked wonderfully. We were able to fill orders right in front of the customers, count out the kits and enjoy time to talk.
We really had a great market – it was fun to see so many familiar faces and see new ones too! As always I love spreading the gospel of punch needle as well. I finished a project that has plaguing me for almost a year. Andy was right, of course, it turned out beautiful – but we won’t tell him that quite yet… we’ll let him read the blog and find out on his own. :)

Sneak Peek for Nashville Market – “Clarence’s Day Out”

Clarence’s Day out is one of most exciting releases. We can’t wait to see what people say! We took our love for Weeks Dye Works fibers, Just Another Button Company Buttons and Sudberry Round Shaker Pincushion and found a place for Clarence to frolic.
We had an amazing day taking photos of Clarence with actual sheep! You’ll see a few of them in the background. There were more – big sheep munching at his buttons.
Both the punch needle and the cross stitch are designed with Weeks Dye Works fibers. The cross stitch is modeled on 30 Count Weeks Dye Works Blue Jean – not surprisingly again - our new favorite color!
Please make sure to stop by us at Booth 615 – February 18-20 at the Nashville Needlework Market.
