Like applesauce but better

One of my kids favorite things Andy's mom makes is Fried Apples. It's not quite applesauce, it's more sweet and served hot. I'm an applesauce fan... so when we have pork? I'm jonesing for some applesauce, or these fried apples. We were having friends over for dinner and pork steak was on the menu. Rather than have applesauce, I made Fried Apples instead. The apples really cook down quickly - I used Granny Smith apples. I was able to make it ahead then reheated it before dinner that night. They were a hit. Everyone loved the fried apples, I think I cooked them down a bit too much, it was a lot like applesauce but loved by all. Adults as well as kids... it might have been the only thing one of the kids ate... possibly... not my kid... my kids love pork... and corn... and potatoes... and... fried apples.

Fried Apples
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
5 lbs apples

Melt butter and sugar in high sided pan, like a Dutch Oven. Add sliced and peeled apples to the pan. Stir and cook till apples are soft/fork tender.
