Musical Beans of Love (Andy sits in the corner embarrassed that I even said musical and beans in the same sentence)

My Aunt Betty makes the best baked beans.  Actually she's a great cook in general.  When my brother was away at college he would determine if he would come home for the holiday if my Aunt Betty was cooking the main meal.  She even got him to eat asparagus!!  Of course there was the time my Uncle Art (married to Aunt Betty) put the marshmallows on the sweet potatoes then in the oven before prayer.  During prayer?  Flaming marshmallows!!!  He had the broiler on.  Oops!  I miss those holiday dinners together.
Anyway - beans.  These are simple.  So simple that I make them in a hotel room when we go to Derksen Christmas each year.  I cook the meats at home and then freeze them with the rest of the ingredients minus the beans.  Early in the morning on the day of cooking, I dump in the meat mix and beans into the crockpot, stir it around and let it cook.  I am sure the hotel staff tells stories about how many empty cans of pork and beans they find in the trash can!
Wow you got about three stories here for the price of one!  So Aunt Betty?  Great cook.  I am sure you will hear more about her.  She's pretty special to me.

1 small onion
6 - 8 strips - cooked and crumbled bacon
