The hunt for a donut pan...

I learned a very important lesson this year, don’t go to Mexico at the beginning of June.  Why?  That’s when the Wilton Tent Sale is!  My mom and I went on almost the last day, empty bins, hardly any sprinkles to choose from, sadness!  How am I supposed to spend my sprinkle budget this year if there aren’t any to spend it on?  Actually we were able to get a few things, but not what I really wanted, a donut pan.  I’ve seen a few recipes recently on Pinterest for donuts and they require a donut pan.  On our way home from the Tent Sale, we stopped at Michaels – they had it!  So I bought one.
One of the reasons I wanted this crazy pan was so I could make donuts for Bronwyn’s special treat for her birthday party at school.  I did a test batch and learned how to not over fill the pan.  These are honestly just cupcakes in donut form, but I thought they were pretty tasty.  We heard from lots of people at daycare how much they enjoyed the donuts.  Although, they were sad that the pink weren’t strawberry.  :)
Funfetti Donuts
What you need!
1 box Yellow Cake Mix
3/4 cup buttermilk
2 eggs
2 Tbsp melted butter
½ cup sprinkles (jimmies)
Can of Frosting – any flavor
Make it!
Preheat oven to 425°
Spray the donut pan lightly with cooking spray.
In mixing bowl beat all ingredients on medium speed for 30 seconds.
Transfer batter in a ziplock bag.
Cut of the corner of the ziplock and squeeze batter into each donut mold, filling 2/3 full.
Bake for 7-9 minutes until the tops are slightly browned and spring back when touched.
Let donuts cool in pan for 5 minutes and then turn pan upside down to remove.
Microwave frosting until pourable.  Spoon frosting over cooled donuts and sprinkle with more sprinkles.

  1. You can order donut mixes from the King Arthur Flour company that make real donuts! Cathy and I went to the tent sale on the third day. Still lots of stuff but also empty bins!
