It's getting to be that time a year when our family has our canning exchange - like tonight! This year is our fourth exchange and we are having a blast with it. I tossed around the idea of doing Fajita Seasoning, but then my mom said she wanted to do Taco Seasoning... so opted for Strawberry Jam instead. (Jelly - I like to call it) She'd tried one recipe and asked me to try another. So - had some friends over - and who better to test out new recipes than good friends who will give you some truth.
Truth they gave was... this recipe is a winner. Do you really need those little packets from the grocery store? Nah... not when you can mix up a batch of this and have it ready to use.
You may notice a new kitchen in my photos… we moved and the house came with a kitchen. It needs some love… and gutting – let’s be honest… but it’s workable until we can pile up the cash to swing some hammers.
Taco Seasoning
What you need!
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoons chili powder
1 1/2 teaspoons dried minced onion
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon paprika
1 crushed beef bouillon cube
1/4 teaspoon white sugar
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon cumin
Make it!
Mix all the ingredients in a small bowl.
Brown 1 pound ground beef. Drain.
Add ½ cup water and dry ingredients.
Simmer until thickened.
If you need a little more heat add more chili powder and cayenne pepper.
Serve with your favorite taco toppings.
